Default TH350 Shift Points??

Hey all,

Anyone know how to adjust the shift points on a stock TH350?? My buddy just got an engine swap in his 74 Nova, went from the old 250 I6 to a 350 V8. I think the trans is still shifting at the redline of the old engine though, probably about 4500RPM. The new engine redlines at 5700RPM, and obviously he's not going to get all the HP out of the 350 if its shifting ~1300RPM early in each gear.

Thanks, any help would be appreciated.

i think he needs a govenor kit that changes weights/springs. I'd get with a tranny rebuilder and see what would be the best method.

You can try to adjust the modulator in some. But chances are you need a govenor kit. I think FLT carries them. Call today 1-630-350-7776.

Thanks for the responses guys, I guess theres no adjustment without making internal modifications

So basically each TH350 is calibrated for the original vehicle in which it was installed?? Seems to be that way, we were hoping maybe there was some kind of adjustment with the governor or something to modify shift RPM's for different engines.
