Question How to fill Trans Fluid ??

Ok, I feel really silly asking this but my TA is a bit low on Trans Fluid... So, I went and bought a couple of quarts of ATF Dex III ... But, call me blind, but I couldn't locate where to fill it from ? Is it where the Trans [red] Dip Stick is ?

Help!!

Thanks man!!! !!.. that's what I thought but didn't wanna screw up the aging tranny!!

And yes, the dip-stick is a PITA!!

Finally, does the car have to be idling hot when topping off the fluid ?

that is not true either...it just needs to be shifted through the gears R-N-D-N-R a few times and the fluid will flow through the valve bodies and be good to go.

Mine has a lock on the fill. It seems VERY hard to get out. Do I really have to pull harder until it comes out. I unlocked it too and it still doesnt want to come out on my car. Am I doing something wrong or not doing enough?

You just need to pull really hard to get it out, once you plug it back in it will come out easily until it gets warm. There are 2 levels on the stick, HOT and COLD, its best to drive it and see where the fluid is at in relation to the HOT mark.

you could always put tranny fluid on the rubber piece so it's a little easier while checking it, but it will be tough again next time.

the dip stick on my TA has 3 levels:

1 - 80 Degree Mark
2 - Warm
3 - HOT

I'm gonna add about half a quart [ sits at the WARM level when HOT ] and drive a bit, and check again..
