Default (Help) - Tranny/Stall Problem

This past Saturday we installed a Rock-On 4l60-e and a Fuddle 2800-rpm stall converter.

Problem: At a given speed, RPM is much higher.... This is at every speed.

* I'm getting 2 codes.
P0706 - Trans Range Switch Performance (OLD) (History) (Current) (Immature)
P0748 - Pressure Control Solenoid Circuit Electrical (History) (Immature)

* Tranny Fluid Level is ideal

* Cruising at 70mph, release the gas pedal and RPMs fall to where they 'should' be.

* Any throttle transition, leads to higher than normal RPM.

* TCC Mode, says converter is locked up. I'm no expert but, it doesn't seem this way.

* Tried all sorts of lock up speeds... Nothing works.

* Sample log:
Engine RPM: 2356
Speed: 48
Input Shaft: 1502
Output Shaft: 2158.5
TPS: 15%
Gear: 4
TCC mode: Locked
TCC Slip: 125.6%

* Sample log:
RPM: 2448
Speed: 62
Input: 1948
Output: 2799
TPS: 14%
Gear: 4
Mode: Locked
Slip: 100.4%

* Gears are 3.73s... Tire is 28'' tall.

I think that covers a good bit of the variables. Please feel free to ask a question, if I have left something out that will help you solve my puzzle.
Thanks,

Kyle

when its locked you should have no or very little slip and your rpm and input shaft speed should match. looks like a converter not locking uo to me

Sounds like maybe you cut the seal on the transmission input shaft or maybe it accidentally was left out by the builder. It's obvious your converter isn't locking up. you didn't disable the lockup in the PCM by chance did you?

with a po code 706 you won't have lock up....depending on the problem seen by the puter....also code 748 will show up when you turn the key on with the transmission out of the car......as I suggest in my e-mail on feb 28 try to reset this puter (clear codes) and make sure the connectors are plugged in correctly make sure the trans range switch is adjusted properly, having the switch out of adjustment will cause a host of problems...If you've not gotten this thing running give me a call I'll find a shop around you that can help you...Hope this helps....
