Yank has fixed the ST3500+ses code problem!!!
Alright people I just talked to Mike and have the new and improved ST3500 coming. Mike has been working with GM to get rid of the code issue. They are using a new, more aggressive, clutch material that will stop the ses code problem on the 2001 and 2002's. <img border="0" title="" alt="[Big Grin]" src="gr_grin.gif" />
I thought the SES codes were more a function of the converter's looseness than its lockup function. I've seen a few posts about the converter lock up clutch slipping due to not enough line pressure. A more aggessive cluch material will help with that. What are they gonna do about the 2-3 solenoid codes? Its my impression that that computer thinks the car is stuck in 2nd when its really in 3rd due to the computer's perception of the converter's looseness before the lockup clutch is engaged. I guess the easiest fix is to have the code turned off.
If I where you I would call Mike and ask him these questions. 501-632-6355 He went into alot more detail about the problem. The new clutch material was the major change.
I wonder if this will change the STR, the flash RPM, the efficiency, and/or the cost. It sorta seems like maybe slip is going to be reduced, possibly making the TC tighter.
Thats great, but what does that really mean for those of us that already have an ST3500?
I have experienced the SES light problem once (2-3 shift solenoid stuck on) problem on my 2000 once... just worried it'll start happening more often.

Cost same. STR same. Slip reduced. Call Mike and let him explain all the details.
