is there any benifits to changing the tranny fluid to royal purple?? how many quarts of fluid does the 700r4 need? any suggestion on filters?

I have been told that synthetic tranny fluids are too slick and to stick with just generic dexron 3! Unless your specific tranny calls for something other than dexron 3.
