Default 2nd - 3rd change shifts to high in a4

In my 99 a4 t/a the 2-3 shift doesnt change when i shift it? (i manually shift while i'm racing)
i have tried putting it in "d" and just going but i run slower that way. my 1-2 shift is fine but my 2-3 shift keeps going and shifts late. i shift it at 5200 but it climbs to about 6k or 6200 before it shifts???? would a trans shift kit help this or can i use my hpp3 to fix this???
any info would be greatly appreciated!!

Manually shifting a 4L60E is worthless. The trans is electronically controlled, so the PCM is going to tell it when to shift. If you have an HPP3, why don't you adjust your shift points with it? With the proper shift points, the car will run quicker. 5,200 RPM is way too low for a stock shift point anyways. If you want to see what works best, then take the car to the track. It will require a lot of passes, so be sure to go on a TNT night. Start by adjusting your 1-2 shift. Do NOT adjust your 2-3 shift yet. If you adjust both shift points at the same time, you won't know which one is hurting or helping your ET. Raise your shift point, and make a pass. Keep doing this until the car starts to go slower and the MPH drops. Once this happens, put it back on the setting that netted the quickest ET and best MPH. Do the same for the 2-3 shift point. Keep in mind that you're going to have to hold traction constant. In other words, look at your 60' times after each pass to see if it varied any. If it did, take this into consideration when looking at the ET. On average, for every .01 change in the 60', your 1/4 ET will change .015. This is just an average, though. MPH is the best indicator of HP.

Ok I have mine set at -5mph on the 2-3 shift because the tranny seems to be taking it's time to shift. If it is set at stock setting it will bounce off the rev limiter at 6400, but with it at -5mph setting it shifts around 5800. Most people I know with same year car and torque converter are set at +5mph at this shift point. So would a Trans-Go shift kit help me out?

BigBake, I do the same thing. In 2-3rd gear I have it set at -5. When I change it to above 0 I go slower but I think this is due to Torque Managment. It seems it dies after the 2-3 gear shift.

I'm putting it at +5 once I remove TM.

The car completely falls on its face for that shift. Will the 01 LS1 edit have this feature to delete it?

LS1 Edit can delete it or you can have Ed Wright do it.

I have the same problem. Running ST3500 and the higher I stall the lower I have to set the shift points. If I stall it up to like 3200 (where I generally can't get traction on drag radials) it will NOT shift into third, it will keep banging on the rev limit all the way...

torque management?

ok, Trevor D i'll give that a try. i gotta feeling that its gonna take forever to find the right combo out though. On a good TNT night i might get 4 runs in from 6pm to 11:30pm. i just hate how long it takes to reprogram the computer. takes 4ever!!! My car just seems to die when it shifts that way....hitting 13.04 is just killing me cause i know it hs 12's in it.

I never hit the rev limiter (6400) but it seems it looses power after shifting into 3rd gear (TM). If you hit the limiter, you might have another problem.
