I think the tranny is going out!!! Last night we were driving up to san luis obispo and i noticed that the car wasnt shifting into o/d. I pulled over and turned the car off for about thirty minutes while we ate and got back in. We got back on the freeway and noticed that o/d was working now but as soon as we went up a hill the rpms in o/d jumped all the way up to 6000 rpms and the car was accelerating very slowly. As soon as we reached the top of the hill it cruised fine at 2700 rpms. It is definately slipping. What do you guys think is going on in there.

You say your car was turning 6,000RPM in Overdrive while crawling up a hill?? Sorry to tell you man but that tranny is shot. Usually there are telltale signs before it gets that bad, such as slipping in 1st under light acceleration or poor shifting quality. Looks like your pretty much just self destructed.
Time for a complete rebuild or a new trans.

Be sure to spend the extra money and get the vacuum activated pressure modulator from Transgo to preserve the next transmission. Serious builders swear by them and it will improve the reliability of the transmission.
Fyi Check out www.finishlinetrans.com they build a wicked unit with the vac mod kit. Nice part about this upgrade is light to part throttle shifts are more forgiving than epc controlled shifts.
