hey guys, what is the best way to get the old tranny fluid out of my stall.

 

Drop the transmission and dump it out. Otherwise you might be able to take it somewhere and get it flushed....

On my Dad's Uncles Stingray he had someone install a drain plug into the Torque Converter. That way all he had to do was pop the inspection cover on the bottom of the transmission and drain it.

 

Let it sit on top of a bucket for a day or two. Pump drive side down.

 

that's what i am doing, i already had the tranny out and i was getting that burnt fluid out of it. i just didn't know if there was a certain way to tilt it or anything. but i have it sitting over a garbage can as of right now

 

yeah put it upside down on a bucket and let it drain, after, put it right side up and refil it with fluid, repeat a few times.

 

how much do i need to put back in and how many times do i need to do this

 

You need to do it once, then take it to a converter shop for a rebuild. If not you're wasting your time.

If it's not a lock up converter you might flush it with mineral spirits.
Still not going to get all the garbage out.

Never ever put any solvent in a lock up converter.

 

A cut and clean is cheap insurance! If you have doubts....just do it!!
