Unhappy HELP! Slipping in 3rd.

My A4 has shown no signs of slipping or chattering but today on the 2-3 shift it took 3rd but just revved to the moon. I slowed down and allowed the car to do a normal 2-3 shift and it would not pull, it just slipped like it had a massive stall converter. What I don't understand is it will shift and drive fine in 1st and 2nd but there is gone.

Thats what I was thinking. I had heard that alot of shift characteristics and line pressure were controlled by solenoids in these trannys. I was curious if one of those could be at fault and save me from pulling the tranny.

Oh well, time for a deep pan and a Fuddle.
