Default Yank Y3000 users, come on in!

Well,
After much research on this and other sites, I think I have decided to go with a Yank Y3000. My car is a 98 t/a with 3.23 gears. It is my daily driver. From what Ive read, the 2.0 STR will allow me to run street tires most of the time...but I plan on buying Nittos. Also I have heard that this converter is more efficient than the vig.

How does everyone like it?

How much time did you pick up at the track?

How do you like the feel? Loose or just right?

Thanks for answering these questions (for probably the tenth time). I have searched and not found all the answers I am looking for.

I have mine with 3.23s and bolt ons.

I like it, it's a 3000% improvement over the stock converter.

I picked up no time at the track with it. This may change, as I got some BFG DRs to play with this season (complete lack of traction last season, after the converter, is what caused the lack of improved times). It is a huge difference on the street though, at least.

If anything, I'd have to say the converter is too tight or just right. I'm pondering an upgrade to a 3500 stall soon, if that tells ya anything. People who have driven my car could not even tell there was a converter unless I told them. You'll be used to it within 24 hours of getting it installed.

It's a good choice, enjoy it

This was the first of the 11 converters I've run. It was great. Huge difference over stock. Got me into the 12s before any other A4 LS1 in the US back in '98. Man, that was 4 years ago.

I've had a Y 3000 w/1.86 STR, for 2 years in my C5 with 3.15 gears, and went from a best of 12.95(before TC) to 12.06 with the only changes being LT headers, DR's, and the TC. It is a good choice for all around street & track. I am upgrading to a ST 3200 with 3.42 gears. Hope I don't go slower.

I used to have one with minor bolt-ons and 2.73 gears. I initially picked up about .3-.4 10ths on street tires. My best on stock 16" RSAs was 12.89@104 1.86 60'. Once I got the Nittos on and a few more small bolt-ons I went a best of 12.50@110mph 1.74 60'.

Overall I like the ST3500 for optimum gain as most of my friends have gained .6-.78 10ths. But they are murder on street tires.

The Vig2800 is a proven winner also as the gains are close to the ST3500 but this converter actually stalls closer to 3200 and is murder on street tires with its 3.0 STR.

Had a Y3200 for about 18 months. Just swapped it out for a PT4000 (time to walk on the wild side).

Like it? -- Yes, very good for street and light strip duty.

Time? -- about 0.4 sec on our 1000' track over stock. That's on 17" street tires (SZ50's) (60' in 1.85 to 2.0 range).

Loose? -- it will feel loose with 3:23's, but you will get used to it.
