bolting trans crossmember to floor The goons who have previously owned my car also owned whatever is in the floor thats holds threads for X-member bolts on my transmission.
So what am I gonna have to do to replace whatever was there? Replace floor section? Some sort of insert? Just make my own tabs with nuts on them....?

You could go with a larger bolt, or you could put a rethread in. They make them for folk who strip out there spark plug holes, seems it would work for your app as well. The name of the part escapes me, but surely someone here knows what they are called.
