"D" or "OD"?

That is correct.
Pontiac 1 2 3 D
Chevy 1 2 D OD
Daily drive in OD, occasionally I'll use D if I'm in a traffic jam (conserves gas when your foot isn't on the pedal for a while), have a full car, or want to race, though I've raced in OD more than in D.

I have an A4, but I go to school, work, im in 3 lane traffic and busy streets, my cell goes off every 20 minutes, im always messin with the radio..etc...
I would like to own an M6, but I would use it as more of a play car.
I dont have time to play sometimes.
Although I wouldn't mind an M6, I chose the A4 because it fits my lifestyle at this moment. I could drive an M6 now, and some people would rather do so...and thats cool.
Like I said, its all cut and dry.
But speed wise, its the same. The right gears and stall wake up the A4 real quick, and they are easier on the junk 10 bolt.
It goes both ways, but certainly one is not "better" than the other.

yeah thats why i prefer an auto over the manual. i know the manuals are fun to drive, but i hear the autos are easier on the sorry 10 bolt. plus its always fun to prove doubters wrong cuz your cars an auto... thanks fellas..
