Does anyone lock their converter at the track?
Locking the converter resulted in the hardest most violent shifts you can imagine.
Picture the impact of a transbrake going from one gear to the next.
For added fun I used to drive around town with converter locked through all gears, and could practically idle up hills and be the king of low rpm bog. I am not kidding, it was like driving a stick car with the trans locked all the time. The shifts were hard! even at 10% throttle. You guys have to try it.
.29 seconds and 3.5+ mph is hard to argue with. the 60 also improved as i said by .02 to .03.
What I meant was, unlocking it through shifts to prevent the failure you experienced. It has to be extremely hard on it to change gears like that.

You only live once and my combo was about to be retired anyways. 6 years and 500+ full passes on it (track and steet) not to mention endless bursts and hard chirps.
Try it once get your "golden timeslip" laminate it, blow it up, or just plain old brag!

The Best V8 Stories One Small Block at Time
Grounding the ALDL on your 700R4, as well as the 2004R will not lock up in 1st gear under any circumstances. Do your homework before you start talking about things you don't know.
You are making a complete fool of yourself, in this post as well as your others....... looks like you are on your way to being banned from all of your other rants and useless posts.......
I posted this topic to try and obtain useful, factual information...... please take your useless jiberish elsewhere and leave my topic alone.

Yeah thats right ME!
I locked my converter in first and Was told for years by my buddy who owns a Buick GN to do so.
Qwik- last time i checked you were a ford guy. So how does that pertain to the 700r4. Unless my car was a freak it can be and has been done. I have timeslips to prove it.
PS- You seem very obsessed with rainbows and talking about "gay this" and "gay that" in your posts (on this topic as well as others)......... makes one wonder.

or you will end up on my permanent signature instead of javaradd With those trannys, you can come to a stop, flip the switch, take off, and as soon as it shifted second gear it will lock up............ This is the idea we are discussing on the 4L60E, but it doesn't sound like the transmission can apply enough pressure on the clutch to fully lock under WOT........ maybe, maybe not.
Regardless, with the 4L60E you would have to wire a switch directly to a TCC pin on the PCM, not being able to do a simple switch like on the older trannys through the ALDL. This would probably set a code and trip the SES light to........ again, why we are here discussing this.
And we are talking about WOT lockup, not part throttle, just to be clear.

it will lock up in 1st as well as i have done it manually with hptuners....forgot to unlock it and it stalled out at the light and bucked hard of course.
you can do all this in software...the tables are there....i had a multi disc converter that was made to be locked at wot.
