anyone regret adding a converter to their car?

just curious. I have read alot of positive things but am curious if anyone has put one in and decided it was not for them and took it out?

Only thing you might regret is noise if you have a very loud exhaust. Because it takes more revs to get moving. Other thing is MPG because it takes more revs to get moving.

Although these are super small annoyances and the benefits are 1000X better than the regrets.

Go big or go home also.

I've only seen one post over the years where someone didn't like it right after the install and put the stock one back in. I remember the first couple days how different my car drove - I think he should've just given it some time and more pedal to get used to it.

I got chambered exhaust and a SS3600 on the way. Should be interesting. I got a feeling me and the cops will be on a first name bases.

Thats Why For a DD set Up most would ADVISE not to go larger then a 2800 Setup.

I can honestly say that anything less than a 3000 would be pointless. I daily drive my car ( 1hr+ to work and back everyday stop and go and some highway) with a 3800 and it's great, I sometimes I wish I would've went bigger. I've let a few people drive it and all of them said they didn't even notice it was there until I told them, or didn't believe it was a 3800 when I told them.

It'll take a day or two to get used to the different feeling in the gas pedal, but then you'll love it. Get a ported throttle body too, it'll help increase your response (not sure if it'll make you any faster) but it'll make the converter feel much tighter.

Best mod for an auto, period.

You're kidding right? 2800 stall? I went with a SS4000 on my DD, never had a problem and still got great gas milage. Now, I'm going to a PT4400 w/ the new set up.

Try driving around in D if you're going to be under 40mph, in D (or 3 for the t/a guys) mine locks up at 25mph.

no, for a daily driver I wouldnt go lower than a 3500, now which exhaust you have is a larger factor in it not being drivable.

You can adjust when the converter locks up with tuning. Mine is tuned to lock-up in third and it won't go into overdrive if I am under 50 mph.

sorry i can't see how anyone couldn't notice anything over a 2800, unless you have never driven a stock tranny.

When i first installed my 3600 i thought i had F'ed up.....felt real sloppy and lazy. I hated my convertor the first few days.....then firmed up my shifts and fell in love....it will take a day or so to get used to it, but when you do you will fall in love and wonder why the hell did this LS1 not have one mated to it to start with

i spent 450 on the converter from fuddle racing and now have over 1150.00 invested in this converter install and its still not right i regret it right now but i don't know what to blame either.

My g/f's solara (basically a camry) has something like a 2400 stall converter stock. The smaller engine needs it so that it can be in the higher rpms where it can move under it's own power. Compared to that she said, it was hardly any different. At least until you put the pedal all the way down.

She's not into a cars performance very much, just cares about how a car drives, and if it doesn't bother her, it's obviously not a huge change in the way the car drives (well, not for regular driving around town anyway). Not like the car has to rev to 3800rpms before it moves or anything.
