Can a newer model 98-up 4l60E fit in a older model lt1 say a 97/ If so what modifications to the drivetrain and computer need to be done?

Or can my existing 4l60E be modified to shift like the new models. mine has 2,d,od, in those orders. I have to put it in 2 where it shifts twice, bump it to d for third and to od for fourth when racing.

i want it to shift 1,2,3, then od like the new 4l60E,s..can i get it mod'd or reprogrammed to hold these gears or do i need a new tranny?

Well I don't know too much about that subject so I guess I'll leave that up to the more experienced tranny guys and I'll see if I can find anything out for ya.. but for now heres you a TTT!

I believe (could be wrong) but the new 4l60e 98 up have a different input shaft than the older models, not sure if the bolt pattern on the housing is the same.

It will not work.

 

Your trans will go into first also, you just need to cut that little rubber bumper off under the shifter plate then it will go down to 1st. You can also buy another cap with the 1 showing if it makes you feel better.
