Default ST3800 v ST3500

Which will provide the greatest gains up top? Will the extra **** extension of the ST3800 help over the efficiency of the ST3500? TIA

IMO, it's going to be a toss-up. As you mentioned, the ST3800 will have higher shi(f)t extension (good), but at the cost of a little lower top-end efficiency (bad). The ST3800 will have a stronger 60' time (good), but will be looser in everyday driving (up to driver's taste on what's acceptable).

Bottom line, from a dead stop, the ST3800 wins. From a roll, the ST3800 wins when racing from a slow roll, but loses when racing from a fast roll against the ST3500.
