Question with Installing TC
Alright helping to install a TC for my buddy and have a quick question. I jacked the car up and was about to start removing stuff when i noticed that the y-pipe might be a problem with trying to remove the tranny.
His exhaust is completly stock, so my question is do I have to remove the y-pipe to do this. And if so how should i do this, just cut it back on the I-pipe then unblolt it up front and remove it. Then get it rewelded back on once we get everything back together.
Thanks
Justin

If his exhaust is still stock, you do not need to cut anything. There is a clamp just past the Y-pipe union that can be undone. Removing the Y-Pipe will ease the trans removal/install, but I do not think it needs to be removed. I had long tubes when I swapped converters and I remove mine.
well then his exhuast must have been modified cause theres no clamp after the merge.
Been reading a little and i think people said it needed to be removed to give room to pull the tranny out.
Anybody have personal expeirence with this?
Justin
Thanks tho
