Why does everyone say the 4L60 is a junk trans? Is there a particular problem with it? Does someone build a race version of it? Thanks.

 

The are some issues with the 4l60e. We at Finish Line Transmissions(FLT) address them with our hp units. do you guys offer one with a brake?

 

At this point no because I have not tested one yet. I really don't know if this type of unit is going to hold up with a break. But we will see.

 

I hear FLT builds a great 4l60e. ALOT of guys are running his transmissions around here and are satisfied. I run a Rock-On myself (4l60e) and it's been great so far. I'm not making any insane amount of power numbers for sure, but my stocker took a dump at only 25000 so I must be doing something wrong

 

If your going to try a 4L60E then by all means have a reputable builder like FLT or ROCK ON build it.
I went through 2 60Es, one supposedly "built" locally and it lasted 26k.
I now have a Rossler TH400 but I beat the crap outta transmissions, manually upshifting and downshifting, manually dropping gears and punching it from a roll........all kinds of nasty things. so the RMVB TH400 worked out much better for me. I can do pretty much whatever I want (short of abusing it) and it just takes it and laughs at me.
