I am needing a 4l80e, what i am needing to know is does it matter what year i get?It will be bolted up to a LSX. Thanks.

 

I've seen a few sites that say '98 and up for LSX but I have a '98 and it's the old style. I also have a '99 that is an LSX. The difference is the LSX style has a bolt hole on the top. You also need to get the cover for the bottom, it is a thick cast aluminum piece that bolts to the bottom of the trans and to the bottom of the engine.

 

So any 4L80e should work just need extra parts and drill a hole or not?

 

Well a lot of people bolt th350's and 400's to lsx engines, they just used five bolts. With a '99 and up case you have the sixth bolt on top, old style has nothing therefore there is nothing to drill. Then the bottom piece adds the two bolts so it's bolted the the engine with 8 bolts as it's supposed to be.
