The thing is what stall level are you talking about?

3500 is that flash or brake? It makes a BIG difference.

However that is all by the by really as the real issue is the more power you have or rather torque means the torque converter will react differently.

If you put a 3500 stall on a stock Ls1 with ~345bhp and 350lb ft it will react different to fitting the same converter on a 500bhp/500lb ft engine.

the more powerful engine will stall the same converter higher.

In short you need a converted matched to YOUR car and mods and expectations.

If it was me I would not buy a 2nd hand torque converter. If you are prepared to pay over $300 2nd just save up the little bit extra you need and get a new one.

All IMO of course

I ran a Vigilante 3600 for a long time in my car and it was perfectly driveable. Actually, after about 30 minutes of driving it, it felt like it was stock. You're not gonna notice a big difference in daily driving, just when you're at the track or racing. Of course, I have a huge difference in opinion than most people when it comes to daily driving. My new tranny has a 4800 stall with a TBrake, and it's gonna be street driven a ton.

IMO, I'd go with a larger stall, maybe a 4k, especially if you race the car. You'll absoluely love the 3500 though. Don't worry about driveability, it'll be perfectly fine.
