Default 4L60 Accumulator question

During my fluid and filter change I am going to perform this weekend I would like to remove the (1) washer I have in the accumulator piston of my 2004 Silverado with the mods in my signature. My question is, is there a risk of damaging the gasket during the cover removal? If so, is there anything besides care that I can do to prevent it from happening? I would like to remove the washer to lessen the shift firmness since the truck is my daily driver and I am just a bit tired of the firmness. I have 100% torque manegement REMOVED from my computer and all of the mods in my sig. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks.

it should come right off with no problem just work it off slow to make sure not to tear the gasket
