Default 4.56s installed! - and a broken tranny :(

After having them sit around for about 2 months, I finally had to time install the 4.56s (thank god school is out. ) I also installed a new prototype Mcleod Revlok II setup while the car was apart. The clutch grabs very well and the gears are flat out fun to drive around town with.

I took it easy on them for 100 miles before really laying into them. When I had some room in traffic, I downshifted to 2nd and laid into it. Hit 3rd gear and the car got sideways. Traffic was pretty far ahead, so I went to hit 4th and that's when all hell broke loose. I heard some grinding and figured I missed a gear, but it just didn't sound right. I put it in 4th gear to cruise along and let out the clutch, but nothing happened. I gave it gas, but the car just revved up like it was in neutral. It was like this in all the gears. I could even put it in every gear without the clutch. LOL No resistance or anything. It was pretty messed up. I had it towed to the shop and I pulled the tranny back out and took it apart. It looks like the key that holds the 3/4 syncronizer to the hub broke. I found half of it in on the magnet in the rear of the tranny. Oh well, it needed to be rebuilt anyways as it was popping out of 3rd gear real bad. Hopefully, I'll be back on the road soon.

For the 100 miles I had the gears, they were a blast. I can't wait to get a tranny back in the car.

Jason

Well damn I thought it would hold out on you a little longer Glad to hear the gears are fun though. Maybe Tim H will let you jump in front of him in line for the rebuild.

The 56's w/a 28in tall tire is not that bad on the street.I run a 28 at the track too.

Justin, I think I'm going to take your advice and just get one from Valvegod. This way, I'll have a spare T56 for parts, etc. I'll probably get this one rebuilt and we can share it since we seem to go through tranny's quite a bit. LOL So, I don't think I'll be taking Tim's place in line w/ Sammy.

LOL Tim. Sammy likes LT1s better anyways, so there was no way I'd get in front of you.

Yeah, I heard through the grapevine that you trashed your trans. So how much was Joe gonna charge you for one of his spare trannies?

Jason,

Sorry to hear about your tranny.

Damn, I was hoping to run our Hot Rods side by side this weekend.

I will talk to you tomorrow at the shop. Tracy and I should be there around 1:00pm. to 2:00pm.

Later,
Coach

Trevor, I have a rebuilt tranny coming from Valvegod and I'm just to rebuild this one whenever I have the cash to use as a spare.

Coach, I was looking forward to it as well. Regardless, we can still make it to the track in your car. It should be a blast! Give me a call this evening if you like. Email me if you need my phone numbers.

Justin, we won't be racing until Sunday most likely. The car will not be done until late Fri/early Sat. We want to put a few more break in miles before tuning it on the dyno. Then, it will be off to the track. We might even head to Hattiesburg on Monday. We'll get the plans sorted out tomorrow though.

What RPM's would the 4.56's be turning at the end of the 1/4 ? I am thinking of going with a set with a spool in my 10 bolt
