Issues w/ installing MCLEOD ADJ. MASTER CYL.
Ok,
we installed everything, and did the bench bleeding, but had no resistance in the pedal.
I currently have a Mcleod single disk w/ shim in my car.
The shaft length on the Master Cyl. was as long, or about 1/4" longer than stock.
We COULD NOT GET ANY PEDAL after bleeding it over & over. . .
My Dad ended up adjusting it for longer throw, and we ended up getting some pressure.
Unfortunately, I backed it ALL THE WAY off the threads, and then proceeded to break the damn spring that pulls the pedal back in place.

Anyways, should we just bleed it again now that we have it adjusted all the way out, and will this result in a good pedal feel?
I can't imagine why I should have it adjusted so far out.
I have 45k miles on my single disk w/ shim. If anything, the MC should be at it's shortest throw, correct?
Thanks
Mike

The unit IS INSTALLED! I'm ATTEMPTING TO GIVE IT A TRY!!
I UNDERSTAND I HAVE TO ADJUST IT!!! But why would it be maxed out on a clutch w/ a shim & 45k miles? It should be the other way, and if anything, not engaging enough, and possibly slipping.
So basically your post didn't help.

Thanks anyways,
Anyone else?

Long shot here, but there were some posts on bad units from the factory and a way to tell. Sorry I don't recall right now what it is.
The Mcleod will actually make the clutch pedal softer than stock. You will have to bleed it the best you can and then fire the car up and try to put it in gear and go from there. 50-75 pumps of the clutch pedal(not fast)hold the pedal to the floor and open the bleeder, let some fluid come out, close the bleeder let up on the clutch pedal and refill resivour as needed. If this doesn't work for ya I don't no what to tell you. It could possibly be you have a bad master cyl.

Well,
I went home & drove the car. . . the clutch was only working for about 1/2 of the total pedal travel.
I drove it, felt wierd, but the clutch was working.
So I adjusted it for less throw (just to try ANYTHING), as I pulled away, all of a sudden the clutch was working 100% of the travel. . .

So, I guess it's working correctly, now I just have to adjust it so it doesn't have 18+" of travel!
