I need help picking a converter????(kinda long)
I'm looking to buy a converter in the next month or so. I just need to know how high of a stall and what brand i should get? Heres a list of my mods and what I will be putting on the car in the near future.
-SLP side exit exhaust
-HPP3
-160 T-stat
-ram air mod
-ported mass air
Coming in the near future
-TNT F1 dry kit 50 or 100hp
-3.42 or 3.73 gear
-Longtube headers with QTP electronic cut out
I also need something that can be driven daily with at least decent gas mileage. Also whats the difference between a lock-up and nonlock-up converter, which is better? And just one more ?, I noticed a puddle of either powersteering fluid or trans fluid on my garage floor, I checked the power steering cap and it was on tight and all fluids are full. Where can it be coming from? Any info will be gratelly appreciated. Thanks for your time.

I would go with the yank super thruster 3500 or the yank thruster pro extreme 3600.The vigilantes are the best bang for the buck converter out there but they are not the best.Yank is at the top for thier converters being the most effiecent.Your leak I would check again and make sure all your lines are tightened.
I'm currently using yokohama A032R 315/35-17 competition tires and they grip really nice so I'm probably gonna stick with them for now. It's gonna be more for street use but still give me some nice times at the track.
With those Yokos, you could dead hook on the street with a SuperYank 3500 and at the track you would cut mid 1.7x 60' times. You could also run a SuperThruster 3500. You would have to peddle it off the line on the street just a bit, but at the track you could see 1.6x 60'. Both would add nicely to your power from a roll.
3500 is a high a stall as I would go if you want to keep your in-town mpg with 2 mpg of current. highway mileage is unaffected by a high stall converter since the car locks-up at cruising speeds.

if your running on street tries look into the SY3500, cause it wont hit as hard off the line! Lower STR!
now if you may running et streets or drag radials in the future take a look at the vig 3200 or the YPE 3600(awesome n20 converter)
