in the driveway
Also IF you have someone to help you out then the trans is actually not that heavy, you and another person should be able to lower it by hand(how i did mine) and make sure you lower it onto a towel and then just slide the towel out from under the car and there you go its out, lowering it with a jack will cause you to have the car much higher (prob 6-7 in) to get the trans out.....just my .02

Bellhousing bolts are not that bad if you have a monster long extension. I put 4 or 5 together and it helps get the socket all the way on the bolt. I use my jack to lower the trans down and then slide it off onto a piece of cardboard and then slide it out from under the car.
Once its sitting on the floor beside your car dance around cuz your half done.

That can be fixed by lifting the engine, I saw a procedure for that in my service manual.
i have a thread on here somewhere, it cracked at what appears to be an oil galley plug above the oil filter, i dont know why or how, i do know that there was no oil under my car until the trans was just about on. it could have been an existing crack that got opened up from stress coming from the trans...
and know i didnt beat on the block with a hammer, and even when i pryed on the trans, once i hit the right spot it popped off pretty easy, had to work the areas around the dowels, and this crack is not near enough to the bellhousing

i fgured it out, you guys ever seen that little spacer/bushing that comes with a TCI flexplate?.................yeah well that **** aint supposed to go on there, the block is cracked from the bellhousing bolt close to the dowel on the passenger side all the way down to the oil galley plug above the oil filter. on top of that....pump is also broke on the trans...
turns out if i would have left that spacer out everything would have been fine, i tested it 100 times on the converter and on the crank to make sure they fit together, but never took into consideration the converter just might fit on the crank without it, what a major **** up that was...
