Default 4L60E and converter question

Tranny guys, I have installed a Vig 3200 in my 95Z. I pushed the converter all the way back as far as it will go. It actually had stopped at one point which I thought wasn’t back far enough so I rotated it some more and it went back another ¼ inch or so. Now with the trans mated to the block there is about a half inch gap between the converter and the flywheel. Do I need spacers or will the converter still drive the pump when I pull it back out to mate up? The reason I ask is because the last one I did I don’t recall having a gap. Maybe on the last one, I didn’t push it back as far. Anyway I wonder what’s up.
Thanks

With the transmission bolted up to the block, the gap between the flex plate and torque converter should be .125" max at the bolt pads (the torque converter shoved all the way back to the rear), and the minimum is .080", which is not your case. If you use spacers, the 3 have to be "identical" in thickness, as the torque converter must be spaced evenly! Use a feeler gauge to determine this (not eye sight).

if you have a 1/2" gap between the flexplate and the convertor somethings wrong.thats huge!

do what pba says.measure the gap with a feeler gauuge and see realistically what it is.your eyes might be playing tricks on you.
