I'm new to the whole stall thing, can anybody tell me what the difference between a lock up and a non-lock up stall is?

well here you go you need to think of a stall as the same as putting 2 fans facing each other and turning one fan on....the other fan will turn but not as fast as the other that is powering it....this is how a stall works in a nutshell....even at coupling speed the flywheel and the input shaft will not be turning 1.1 however the lockup clutch is splined to the input shaft and when the tcc solenoid allows the fluid pressure to dump it allows the clutch springs to apply the clutch therefore locking the flywheel to the input shaft works basically like a regular clutch except it is all inside the converter hope this helps
