Default 700r tranny

hey i had a couple questions about the 700r trannys and i hope this is the righ area. i am installing a carb 383 stroker engine and i wanted to know how much hp can a well builded 700r handle?

my next question is about Manual Valve Bodys. if i install one can i have the set it to shift like a normal auto tranny and then when i want to shift it like an manual just drop it down in to 1 or 2 or what ever grear i should be in?

The 700R4 can be made to hold the same as a 4L60E. Low 10's is possible with the right torque converter. I have done this. The Trans-Go Performance Shift kit offers this, where you have "full automatic" when driving around town, and you can manually upshift it when you race it.

thanks for the help there pba. tell me do you think this trans can hold about 600 hp maybe a little more
