Why don't more people have PT4200s or PT 4000s?
I'm curious about this. Why always 4400? Yank makes the Pro Thruster with 4200 and 4000 rpm stalls, right? Seems to me it might be a good choice if you're wanting to hook on the street but still perform great at the strip.

My guess is that if you're going as high as a 4000-4200, might as well get the big one right away, there probably wouldn't be much difference on the street (neither one will hook on the street with radials, anyway <img border="0" title="" alt="[Wink]" src="gr_images/icons/wink.gif" /> ) with a 4000-vs-4400, so why not get the "good" one to begin with. I have a TP4400 and 4.11s, and wish I had more stall, it isn't loose enough anymore. <img border="0" title="" alt="[Eek!]" src="gr_eek2.gif" />

The TP series are race converters. Only after a a few of us sicko's started using them in our daily drivers did anyone dream of using them for a street car. <img border="0" title="" alt="[Wink]" src="gr_images/icons/wink.gif" />
I think the TP-4400 is nearly the perfect stall for a natural aspirated LS1. The lower stall TP series converters will do better in higher HP cars (limited power adder), or ones that are trying to "compromise" on street manners... although.. having driven a TP-4000 and TP-4400.. there isn't really that much difference in the "looseness".

Could it be said that a TP4200 or a TP4000 may be LESS likely to throw a code? And what`s the price range of th Yank TP line?

No difference in terms of codes or cost. Yank is having a sale (been extended) so call them direct.
The 4400 was the original design. I had a 4000 and it was just about as loose as a 4400. I then went to a 4200 to balance efficency from a roll with my launch.

Thanks for the reply Ragtop. I`ve been tossing the converter question around for a while now and I must admit at first the Vig 3600 sounded like the one for me, but all anyone has to do is look at the ET`s of guys like you (and many others) and see there is only one way to go! So I`ll be seeing what a PT4400 will do behind a otherwise stock LS1 here soon. <img border="0" title="" alt="[Big Grin]" src="gr_grin.gif" /> Thanks for helping me make up my mind!

The way my 4400 hits i really can't see the 4000 being that much softer....at least not soft enough to hook on the steet.
I say if your gonna drive around with a race converter then if you want the 4400 then go ahead and get it.
My car only weighs about 3250 with me in it and has stock internals so it only stalls/flashes around 4200. This might be something to consider if your light and thinking of going with one of the lower stall tp's.
