Will same Converter stall higher in higer HP car?
Is this true, if so any quick explanations?
Thanks
Anyway, the increased torque can easily overpower the converter upon the initial hit of the throttle. This causes the rpms to jump higher then with a lower TQ vehicle. Same thing happens with a heavier vehicle, more rpms are needed to get the car moving. Also higher numerical gears have the same affect. This is similar to accelerating on a downhill vs. an uphill.
More work is required to get the vehicle moving, and since the fluid is the transferring force, it can only do so much. So more pressure is needed to move the internals. Sorry it was not very techinical, just wanted to make sure non-techies understand without being lost in the lingo.
