Default AC effecting OD?

I have a 1998 Z with the 4L60E, the other day I mashed the gas at about 50 MPH it kicked down and took off like normal but at around 80 when it went to go back to OD it hit the rev limiter and wouldnt shift, I tossed it in neutral to avoid damaging anything. I checked the tranny fuild and everything seemed fine. I was curious to see if this was a one time thing so I tried it a few more times and it only went back to OD 1 out of 3 more times. So I turned off the AC and did it twice more and it worked fine. Was this caused by the AC or do I have a tranny problem?

also: I noticed my gas gauge and my speedo move at the same speeds, in opposite directions.

well the a/c affects line pressure but it shouldnt affect the shift points.....when the a/c is on it lowers line pressure becuase the idle is higher so it doesnt slam into gear but once you get into gear it brings it back to normal so it shouldnt affect the shift points
