Default screwed up my shift kit install. need help badly

I just got done installing my B&M shift kit in my 99 z28 4l60e. i ran it through the gears jacked up and it seemed ok. so i start backing it out of my driveway. i get to the street and throw it in drive. and the car just keeps on going in reverse. no matter where the gear selector is, it goes into reverse except for in park. but in R, N, OD, D, 2, 1, it goes into reverse. what did i screw up??? should i just take it to a tranny shop, i feel like an idiot. also now my abs inoperable light is on along with my traction contol off light

Sounds like the shift lever isn't engaged with the manual valve.

That was the one thing I was confused about when I was putting it al back together. Does anybody have pictures of how the shift linkage to the manual valve is supposed to look like. I took pics before i pulled everything apart but it was the one thing I could not see in my pictures so I just winged it

Have you taken it back apart again?

I installed a shift kit once for a buddy during a 'car party' one day. We got it all buttoned back up, started 'er up, and heard a 'tink' and the car stopped moving. Instant in the pants.

I was just like you, "what did I screw up"? All the possibilities racing through my mind...

Turns out that I didn't seat a snap ring properly, and a little piston had popped right back down in the pan. Put the piston in, put the snap ring in right... Voila. Ran perfectly.

Basically, you need to drop the pan and take a look at what you did. Go through the parts step by step. And pray that nothing is messed up.

haha yea I tried hooking it up with the valve body already mounted. That was a bad idea. I didn't really read every detail to the directions and thats what ended up biting me in the ***.
