Measuring torque converter efficiency
Measuring torque converter efficiency Is it possible to measure torque converter efficiency on the dyno? I have a TH400 behind my LS1 and wondering how much my converter is slipping. I know there is a way to calculate it knowing the mph through the traps along with your rpm, but trouble is at 122 mph I am too busy to look down at the tach and get an accurate rpm reading.
Can you use the same method of calculation on the dyno? Just compare engine rpm vs wheel speed (mph) to determine the torque converter efficiency?

Yes you can measure converter efficiency on a dyno but I think your efficiency numbers will show better than if you were measuring it at the track because the load on the drive train will be less.
