To much converter?

Default To much converter?

I have a 4l80e in my 98 Z28 with a vig 3800 converter seams to flash at 42-4300 is this to much converter my cat seams to be a pig now. i had a M6 before i know its goin to slow it down but my car feels like a 14 sec car.

Mods:
Lt's
open headers havnt gotten to exhaust shop yet
d1sc procharger 8lbs
and full suspension

in a month car withh have heads and a cam

please help me out here

That 80E is a big, heavy, transmission that will suck up some power.
On the flip side it won't need a rebuild in 20k.
You could try a smaller stall, with the supercharger your probably makin good power lower in the RPM band and the smaller stall would let you use it more.

Is the converter for the 80 or is it for a 60e? or do the converters work in both?

The conerter is for the 80 for the ls1 so i dont need the indexing ring. the 60 converters wont work as far as i know.

i know the 80e is heavy and will suck power but its just a huge pig!!!

After the tranny swap did you get the tune checked. The two trannys want different line pressures and shift points. With you extra weight, you may consider a tighter stall. Call one of the vendors here on the board, they can better help ya.

Did you get the converter before the blower and when you picked it up did they know the car had/was going to get a blower? If not that is your problem there it may be a converter that was oroiginally made for an NA setup. I'd get a new converter if that is the case.
