Default The common 2-3 delayed shift, diagnostic step...

I've been reading about the apparently common 2-3 shift bouncing off the limiter, and apparently there's a couple of things that causes this, one of which is serious (clutch packs).

My "mechanic" friend told me that when I let off the gas slightly to allow it to shift, if it still shifts hard and firm then that's proof it's not the clutch pack but instead tuning or possibly speed sensor.

Can someone verify this is true for me?

BTW: I am very near stock 98Z, just have lid and very minor mods.

Welp, hit many angles at once, put fluid just a hair above full line, used a HPP3 to raise rev limiter to 6500 and bumped 2-3 shift point down by 5mph and then took 'er for a ride and problem's gone. It's actually shifting a little early if anything. Just in case anyone else has the problem and is reading this, it's not necessarily your clutches in the tranny.

well i tested mine at the track and if i let it rev all the way it will bounce off the redline and never shift, if i let off it will shift at say about 4250-4750 RPMS but it just rolls into 3rd only sign being the change in RPMS, feels real soft. i pretty much knew it was clutchpacks already though which is why i got my rock-on (which is currently being sent bakc to rock-on due to undisclosed ****-ups on my part)....
