It's about 5/8in - 3/4in thick. Atleast for the 4L70 (2004r) it is.

Default Can someone explain the Yank adapter plate to me?

Well, the 2nd gear in my T56 decided to disappear on Friday at Ennis. So, it's time...

I'm currently looking at a custom 700R4, but obviously it won't bolt up to the LS1. So, I'm thinking about seeing if Yank will sell an adapter plate to me.

If they will, then is this assumption correct?

I assume that the adapter plate will space the transmission about 3/4"-1" backwards. Because of this, I'll need to use an LS1 torque converter - because it'll bolt to the LS1 flexplate, but the torque converter's coupling is longer (by about 3/4"-1"), so it should be able to engage the 700R's pump ears when bolted up to the flexplate.

Is that a correct assumption?

Then I assume that I'll need to do a little customizing of an A4 tranny mount - because the tranny will be about 1" further back than it was.

And get the driveshaft shortened (free from Denny's, but I'll have to pay $50 there/back shipping I assume).

So, if I can use a Yank adapter plate, an LS1 torque converter, the 700R4 trans, the tweaked mount, and the shortened driveshaft, I may just do this deal.

(BTW, the trans is a manual valve body w/ transbrake and a few other tweaks)
