Default 4L80E/tranny questions

Hi, new guy here, in process of working on mod ideas for a t/a. I read about getting a torque converter and all that, but my concerns are noticing that some ppl say that 500 hp is a high limit on an auto ws6, that the tranny might not survive the dragging too much, depending on the amt. of power it has when using the stock 4L60E. So my question is, would u say that the stock tranny could hold over 500 hp?, in case of the purchase of supercharger, but I will most likely do all bolt ons and such, just never hurts to ask. If it can or cant, how much power could it hold safely? And if I do plan on supercharging in the future, should I go ahead and purchase the 4L80E b4 I start my major modding? Thank You for any help.

I look at 600rwhp as the limit on a very built 60E. That's with just about every hi-bux part put in it.

If you plan for more than that and/or reliability is very high on your list, spring for the 80E. I love mine and it was built by Hughes Performance for 1000hp.

Default 4l60e Power Handling

The 4L60E Can be built to handle 600 hp and more if it wouldnt then we wouldnt warranty them at that , We have had literal rear wheel hp test with one of our uints at 680 rwhp The car is driving today a year later , The trick is in the parts and more than that the builder , So many go to xstremes and this breaks stuff ,
