Curious if I should go with a full flush on my A4 or just pan (5 quarts in pan, 11 in all). I have been searching for instructions on the full flush, but lack of finding any makes me think just the pan will be fine. Car has 90K miles. Tranny fluid has been changed twice in it's life (I know, I've been a slacker) last time with 60K miles (filter changed then). I don't mind doing the full flush if it would be worth while, and I have had people tell me it is simple and to do this and that, but I am a visual person and a Write up like you would see on LS1howto.com would be great if someone has one...if it would be worth while.

I've been wondering for a while, if i take the line that takes the oil to my trans. oil cooler.....unplug it,.....turn car on, will it drain all the oil?????then turn car off, drop the pan to change the filter....and then refill....will that work?????

I was told exactly that, but something also about having to have some one filling the fluid up while someone else is under the car waiting for all the old to be out and new flowing in. I just no I will get under there and start taking apart the wrong hose or something stupid like that. I always second guess myself on new projects unless I see it pointed out.

 

I agree with you. Just repeating what was told to me.

The rearend is cake though. I change it every year (mainly because I have been eating bearings till I got the axles fixed).

 

i would imagine one would wait till all the old oil is out??????? sorta like oil change, u dont wanna mix the new and old oil.....but maybe trans. is diff..

i really hope some one clarifies this cause im about to drop the oil on my trans and rear end this weekend.....

 

yeah but you also dont want the car running when you run out of fluid lol

 

flush the whole thing, its not really good to have that crap held up in the tranny
