Question question about torqe conv. please help !

im geting a 408 stroker motor built for my 99 ta i bought the car from a guy who already had a torque convertor- tci 4000 stall i had my trans beefed up and we were going to put the convertor on when we saw tiny metal flakes in the convertor ? the transmission place said that the trans was in pretty bad shape. how do u no if the convertor is bad ...... id hate to put a bad convertor on a new trans

Might get a little more response from our Automatic Transmission section

Converter needs to be opened up to be at least cleaned out and inspected. Don't want those pieces getting into your new tranny.

yep, you need to send the stall back to TCI so they can refresh it

Exactly, it must be flushed at a minimum.

I would never trust a converter from a trashed transmission , send it and have it redone or replaced ,Do not chance it in a new tranny ,
