question about torqe conv. please help ! im geting a 408 stroker motor built for my 99 ta i bought the car from a guy who already had a torque convertor- tci 4000 stall i had my trans beefed up and we were going to put the convertor on when we saw tiny metal flakes in the convertor ? the transmission place said that the trans was in pretty bad shape. how do u no if the convertor is bad ...... id hate to put a bad convertor on a new trans

Converter needs to be opened up to be at least cleaned out and inspected. Don't want those pieces getting into your new tranny.

I would never trust a converter from a trashed transmission , send it and have it redone or replaced ,Do not chance it in a new tranny ,
