Second gear goes Neutral?
I have swapped a 5.3 and 4l60e into an old Jeep. I recently got the bugs worked out in the fuel system, so it was time to take it for a spin. Around the yard, the trans is shifting pretty well 1-2-3-4 (in low range). So I pop the transfer case into high range and take out on the road. Runs up fine in 1st, then shifts into second, then into third. All is hunky dory. I stop and turn around, (having gone maybe a half mile down the road) and this time it shifts into second, then preceeds to go into what feels like neutral. I get off of the gas and wait a bit. Hit it again, same results.
I changed the filter and fluid before I started it up for the first time. The old fluid was still in good shape, and I noted nothing out of the ordinary in the pan. The trans has sat for about 3 years. It came out of a wreck, but was working fine up to that point. Other than the obvious "its time to tear it down", any ideas on what I can check?
