Default TH 350 intall in 99 LS1

OK so i just bought a TH 350 for my 99 Z28 A4 and i need a little info. Ive read all the stickys and all the posts but most of my questions have not been answered. I read that i will need to get a a flexplate out of a 98 LS, but i dont know why. Why cant i use mine? Im not sure on the tranny lines either. Also, the crossmember. why do i have to get a new one? Can i not just modify the stock one? What about the TA? I dont see why its necessary to spend 250 dollars on a relocation kit. im not to worried about not having a speedo but if i choose to use it what can i do with the 350 tailshaft. ive read that i need some sort of adapter. what do i need and where can i get it? I think thats all the questions that i have for now. but let me know on whatever you can. thanks

Erich

My flexplate is from a 99 and it works. As for the crossmember, its just easier to bite the bullet and get one made. I got the bmr one that relocates the torque arm and its really an outstanding product. Well worth the price.

If you dont order a torque converter (th350)made for an ls1 you will need a pilot spacer, but thats it.

the 98 flexplate is a dual bolt pattern flexplate, it can bolt up to ls1 converters and sbc converters. If your running a sbc converter than you will need it along with a pilot spacer(hays sells one). You can modify your crossmember to work you just need to bring it forward and down a few inches. You will have to lack the two tranny next to eachother to see how much. For the torque arm you can buy a tailshaft that has the provision for a torque arm on it.

Or save yourself a headache and buy the BMR crossmember.
