Default Yank ST3800 Non Lockup - Part2 - Help

Here's what I have discovered after putting about another 100 miles on the car. (300 total). Under very light acceleration from a stop, after reaching approx. 40 mph, the converter will lock up and stay locked up up to 70 mph. After traveling 8-10 miles locked up with the cruise on 70 mph, it will unlock and I cannot get it to relock without coming back to a stop. If I accelerate moderately from a stop (not WOT) and don't get it locked up by between 40-50 mph, and continue on up to 70, it will not lock up at all. Even letting off the gas and coasting at 70 mph will not lock it up. The occasional chatter is there when locked up, but I'm not worrying about that right now. Any idea what's going on here???

Is your 00 SS the only car of yours without converter issues? I remind you it was all in my superior installation that keeps that one going strong, lol

BTW for those Mac headers (topic gone) I wouldn't give more than 75% of new cost IMO.

Hi Joseph. So you figured out who 2xLS1 is. Actually, I took the Stealth 2600 you installed out of the 00 SS and I replaced it with a ST3500. Actually, I'm getting pretty good at it. Can change one out in about 4 hours lying on my back. Have you looked at my other thread? Any suggestions??? I sold the 98 Z and bought a 99 Hugger SS. It needs 3.73's. I'm debating whether to do it myself, since I had such an excellent instructor, or to go back for a refresher course. I'm going to send you an e mail about the T/B's.

I sent it to your hotmail addy. That's different than the addy. I had for you.

Damn, I wish I could offer some insight but I have about 2K miles on my ST-3800 in a '02 Z28 and not a single problem. Locks up fine, I don't drive in D rather than OD, I have a Trans-Go kit I installed myself and I ran ported ends for about a 1000 miles.

I'd maybe ATAP the car during a few runs and see if you are reporting misfires or anything else unusual.

Ported mafs have been known to foul up A4's. Happened to me twice. Finally put stock Maf back on and now runs perfect.

I agree.

I started having trouble with mine when I installed a ST3800 but after swapping to the stock MAF the problem instantly went away.

Then I had problems when I installed the cam and had major lock up issues. Turns out you have to turn off the Misfire code in the PCM and it will fix that problem.
