A good point as the correct bolts supplied with the converter go thru the lugs and into the threaded main body of the housing, the bolts in photo are too short

These are the bolts that Yank supplied me with the converter. This converter used to be an ST3500 that lasted 8 months into a 2 year warranty. I contacted Mike at Yank and he wouldn't warranty it (I'm still a little bitter that my $719 converter broke after 8 months and I had to pay $125 to get it back). This is why I don't buy ANYTHING from Yank anymore. This converter is probably going in the garbage where it should have gone when it broke the first time.

the bolts we send are 10x40 mm long and go thru the lugs and into the housing!
the ones you show are not!

but that was not the root cause as it is around 4 or more years of use!
We inspect all returns under warrenty and state the failure to the customer and cover anything that was our defect.

The price you stated sounds like you where charged a min. fee.

Yank,

You are correct this is an old converter with many track passes. I installed it with the hardware you supplied. I am glad you think it was a minimum fee. It didn't seem very minimum when my car was on jackstands for two weeks and I had already spent over $700. I purposely did not state the manufacturer of the converter in my first post, but since you threw in your $.02, I figured I would let you know that it was one of yours. Parts break; Don't get bent out of shape. I will pay to have it fixed as I have done in the past. You just won't be the one fixing it! Sorry if I hurt your feelings.

I know every converter out there by sight and know what our product looks like and also know what makes converters fail and you had your converter rebuilt by another company as stated above, so why don't you contact them as it is possible that they did not put your converter back together correctly.

If you look the cover is threaded as is the lug this is so the bolt can screw in to the cover or it would be a thru hole or no hole in the cover
Yes, parts do brake and can be damaged I have been racing for over 30 years and have been thru many parts.

All parts used in racing need to be checked or inspected often.

I am not worried about fixing it! You can send it to the people that worked on it last, as it looks like they fixed you up before.
Good luck and check your parts often.

Same reason to never powdercoat or paint the wheel mounting surface on a brake rotor..

This thread reminds me to double check the bolts on my TC when I get the car out in the spring

funny about the "painted feet", When I put my TCI in I sanded down the surface to get the paint off for that specific reason, But unfortunately I have to check the dam bolts anyway as I hear something down there....

We suggest people use thread lock on there bolts , Always remove any debris or paint from the mating surface on either the converter or the flexplate

Wow. It's one thing to have it out with a rowdy disatisfied customer... it's quite another to tell him to go plug himself on a public forum. Right or wrong... wow.

I thought the same thing after reading all this.

As for sending it back to who he had rebuild it? Why? Did they put the feet on the case?

The converter was changed in stall and modiflied by TCI about 2 years ago,and from his post and runs the the track often.
drag racing will fail any part.

and we never said any thing as you state bad about the customer,
just gave him insight on what happened!
if you took it that way we are sorry!

If the converter would have been sent to us for a rebuild the lugs would have been looked at and rewelded if needed(it is part of the rebuild process as are other preventive items) but a company that has no idea about our product will not know what to look for in our design.
