Default how reliable are the 4L60E tranny's

just as the title says....how reliable are these 4l60E trannies? Ive read where these trannies out of the box are already on its way out(done) and as soon as you startin moddin and making some real power then you no doubt need to beef the tranny up. Whats up with this and do i need to look at doin this with my setup(sig. below). TIA

Personally I suggest that the transmission come first , I mean it is an I have said this many times the foundation for the transfer of power ,
A 4l60e can be built to with stand some pretty serious numbers but from the factory out of the box is relativley weak.
If you plan to make any serious power at all you need a tranny built for it

A Transgo shift kit is a good idea if you're trying to prolong the life of your stock tranny without getting deep into it.
