Is there any specific year I should look for, or just any 4L80E? A buddy of mine has one that needs a rebuild he'll let go for cheap, but he doesn't know what it came out of.
Does the bell housing bolt right up, or is there a conversion peice?
Does anyone make a RMVB w/ a brake for the 4L80E?
What shifter works w/ this trans?

OK so I did some reading, it looks like Rossler makes a t-brake, but you keep the auto VB whic is fine with me.
So the stock shifter will be ok?
What about the bell housing?
Any specific year/model trans I should be looking at?

I would look for a 99 and later 4l80e. When you get a TC have it built with an LS1 front cover. If you have any questions or would like to order one, feel free to give us a call.
You will need a 97+.. The older ones will work but will need some modifications. They are also not as strong. The bellhousing will bolt up, youre going to need a converter made to fit the 4l80e but yet bolt to the LS1 flywheel. The PCM has to be modified, you'll need a crossmember, a wiring harness, TH400 slip yoke and the stock shifter will work. The stock drive shaft will also be fine. I think thats about all I can think of right now.

Is there any special mods that the builder will need to know about when putting this trans together to make it work in a f-body? (internal, input/output shafts, etc..???)

cool, thanks.
Is there anyway to tell by looking at the trans what year vehicle it came out of? My buddy thinks it came out of a 99, but I'll be pretty upset if it's a 95 or something and I dump a bunch of $$ into it.

I got no response from him, anyone else know?
The core I have came out of a 1 ton truck, but it's the same trans whether it came from a 1 ton or a 3/4 ton right?

The trans itself will have the model on it. Mine has 4l80e right on the side of the casing. Only other thing you will need to know is the year model it came out of. Someone your suppose to be able to tell that by the part #.
Did he not know or did he just not reply?
