ST3500 is in, I love it
Finally put it in over the weekend..
Not too bad to install. Took about 8 hours on jackstands. My first time dropping a trans on one of these cars.
As far as looseness, its not bad at all. ~2K around town, locks up right at 36 mph if I drive like a normal human being.
No more 35mph dead spots. Sends it on up to 4K, almost immediately.
WOT it holds the shifts to ~4500 R's, where the stock converter would only hold somewhere between 3600 and 3800.
Bottom line, this thing rocks

congrats on the installation . i'm going to be buying a stall soon myself. i just cant make up mind on which one to get. i may not go with a 3500 ,but i may get 3000 vig or yank.
Congratulations. I hear that is a great converter. I was set on getting it, but I have a Corvette which is lighter in weight.
I talked to Mike at Yank and he said that might just spin my tires all day long. He said the SY3500 with a 1.61 STR might be a better choice unless I am racing all the time with DR's.
I have driven a SY3500 and it hits a bit soft??
I wish I could just pull the trigger on the ST3500, but don't want to regret it. I only raced 2 times and it will be used on the street 99% of the time.
Just as a reference, my car dynoed at 316 RWHP 330 RWTQ. When I raced at Ennis in Feb 2002 (was pretty cool out then) I ran a 12.57 at 111MPH on the stock run flats. I am also putting in 3.42 gears to replace my 3.15's when I do get my Converter in.
Glad you like it Man!!!
You guys on this forum know alot about torque converters. I come over and read stuff on LS1TECH all the time. The only problem is it isn't a perfect comparison since the weight factor, but close. Many Vette guys run the SY3500 with 3.42's??
Again enjoy th eNew Found Power!!!
