Default Auto swap options question

I've done a good bit of reading. Just considering swapping to an auto for a few reasons:
- I'm tired of clutch problems
- I'm tired of waiting on the rear to go from dropping the clutch
- I'm tired of the wife throwing it in my face that she can't drive the car anymore

So in looking, I see that basically it's not a feasible option. Is this correct?
I say that because my car sees mostly street time. 2x to the track this year is all I did, with 10k miles on the street. I don't see that there's an overdrive transmission out there that'll hold well, and is economically doable, is there? I've seen too many 4L60e's go out and it's usually while racing, at high revs. Revs seem to kill them. And my car is made to shift at 6800 right now. So does that rule out a 4L60e? Or does someone build a good one for a decent price? Or is there another option I'm missing? I think the 4L80 is pretty expensive, from what I'm reading.

A built 4l60 from a good builder should hold fine... take your shift points down a few hundred RPM as well.

Why would I reduce shift point? I want to shift at my car's optimal shift point.

Less stress on the tranny.. from the sound of you are more concerned about keeping you car alive than squeezing evey pony out of it..

- I'm tired of clutch problems
- I'm tired of waiting on the rear to go from dropping the clutch
- I'm tired of the wife throwing it in my face that she can't drive the car anymore

i say get a stalled auto build it tranny cooler ect... set the shift points as high as u want... i have mine a 6.850 all day and never had a problem ya just have to have one built at a reptuable shop...i beat mine at the track every wed and no sliping or burnt fluid i love the thing theres nothing better than an aftermarket 4l60e imo...

compared to a stock stalled/auto 4l60e an aftermarket built one with a descent stall drives totaly difrent than a stock tranny.. ur gonna love it. i recommend a 3500stall

I went from a T56 to a stage 5 built 4l60e. I love it. It actually made the care more fun to drive.
