Turbo 400: Long trip?
Yank turbo 400 transmission, manual valve body, 3.73's, cruise control on the car.
How bad would it be on the transmission to take a long (6+ hours) trip on this tranny? Worried about overheating and wear..... Would it make any difference to stop every two hours or so and let it cool?
im aware of the obvious annoyance of driving it (the cruise control will help), but im less worried about gas mileage and comfort than i am wear and tear.
Im new to th400's, so help would be appreciated. basically asking if this is "not normal, but ok to do." or should i totally scrap the idea because i will detsroy the tranny.

well bear in mind that prior to the overdrives all cars have three speeds and they were driven 1000s of miles at very high highways speeds , The wear would be incidental of the trans the real wear is on the engine ,And on your wallet in fuel ,
It will be fine to drive it
It will be fine to drive it
