Default Affordable options?

I have no doubt this question has been beaten to death. I apologize in advance, but I can't find the simple answer. I just want confirmation of a conclusion that I've drawn.

Is there any affordable auto tranny with overdrive out there that will handle a h/c car? What about a h/c car on spray? Shifting around 6700-6800.

By affordable, I mean a TH350 swap is relatively cheap. I'd love to do that, but I live in the country and do a lot of highway and freeway driving to get anywhere.

And that's my point. You're talking $2k for just the tranny/convertor. I can get a TH350 and stall for half that. That's why I made this thread.

Well thats true of course there theres the mod to put in the 350 . I dont know a really inexpensive alternative , I do know if you drive the car any at all the cost in additional fuel for the 350 without overdrive will more than negate the savings on the trans itself .
If you werent doing NOS I would say our level 1 . But anyway just supplying what I thought was a reasonable option

overdrive is expensive. Maybe you can find a 4l80 in a wrecked car cheap. A decent converter is still going to add $400 - $800.

For just H&C, unless your T56 and clutch are trashed, you might find someone with a built 4l60 to trade straight up. I've seen a fair number of them in the parts wanted section. You may also be able to trade your set up for cash and a core that you can build.

Once you get to spray, any big shot necessitates the move away from a 4l60e. For every guy that buys a built 4l60 and sees it live behind 600+ rwhp, another 3 guys destroy thier tranny within a year.

Yeah, and this will end up with a 100-150 shot on it eventually.
