Default Swaping Trannies

how difficult is it to swap transmissions? im going to be swapping my stock 4l60e by a 4l60e from a lt1, fully built with a stall. I believe all i need is the spacer and bolts if im not mistaking to make it fit. But if i have them, how hard will it be? Is it just unbolting a couple of bolts and adding the right fluid to the tranny and bolting it back up? How hard will it be for two people? Is it easy to screw things up? THanks.

Let me try to understand this. Are you putting an LT1 4L60E behind an LS1 engine?? If that is indeed your intention then get ready for some fun. First off which year LT1 4L60E? Early ones weren't PWM like your car's was. You'll be shy three bellhousing bolts as the LT1 bellhousing will only be able to use 5 of the holes out of the 8 in your LS1 block. Just get the right transmission and save yourself the headache, seriously.

Agreed though it can be done there are issues that may make it much more involved than you think , At a min you would need to swap the wiring harness and the 3-2 and the LOCKUP PWM solenoids , missing bolts, spacer etc and it would be as cheap or cheaper to just buy the correct trans unless this one is free then it would still be a questionable decision.
Can it be done YES
Will it work fine when done YES if all is considered
Is it a good idea ?

alright guys a friend of mine really really needed the money and he had just thrown in this new tranny on his 96 LT1 stroker. He was getting his car tuned and the guy forgot to turn on the fans and blew the engine ever since his car was just sitting there with a tranny with less than 200 miles on it. I have the recipe this tranny cost him 1388 dollars. Rebuilt kit, sun shell, rear planetary, input drum, piston kit, pump stator, epc solenoid, pwm solenoid, 3-2 solenoid, manifold sensor, shift solenoids, 2800 torque converter. To put it all together it cost him 1388 with high performance/strength/reinforced items. How much can i get for this if decided to sell it? How much will it cost me for installation?
